WSOB ANNOUNCES REDUCTION IN ENTRY FOR CANNES

Following consultation with several players, WSOB Cannes to be held at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes from July 22 - 26 will be lowered to a €1.000 entry plus €125 registration.

WSOB Prague will resume at €1250 entry. Qualifiers for Prague will begin at www.worldseriesofbackgammon.com as soon as the new BG platform has been presented to players in Cannes on July 23rd.

179 PLAYERS ANNOUNCE THIER INTENT TO PLAY WSOB CANNES

In 2008, World Series of Backgammon events recorded record numbers of players. In London, the first UK Masters in London secured a field of 123 players including many of the world's greats like Falafel Natanzon, Sander Lylloff, Morten Holm, Mochizuki Mochizuk et al. Gus Hansen made his return to the game as well for the UK's largest event for 30 years.

In Copenhagen and Cannes, Championship fields grew to 153 and 155. 2006 World BG Champion Philip Vischjager commented "it's buzzing like the hey-day in the 70s and 80s!"

Now, with Season III about to kick-off in Cannes this July, a record 179 players have registered their intent to play. On past evidence, around 80% of intended players attend plus an additional 40%. Could Cannes break 200 players this year? It remains to be seen.

The increased entry has caused some controversy and WSOB's projected online platform will not be ready until Cannes itself instead launching sats for Prague and London.

WSOB CHAMPIONSHIP will be a 32 player event this year, with €320.000 prize pool.
Top 24 players from tour (the WSOB Race) will qualify to play online, they will boil down to 8. 24 others will win seats via Super Satellite events at both online and at our events. There will be no Last Chance at our events, instead, €10,000 WSOBC seats will be played for.

Full details of tour, venues, launch date for online platform will be released early May.

WSOB ENTERPRISES WILL ANNOUNCE WORLD SERIES OF BACKGAMMON® SEASON III AT NORDIC OPEN 09

World Series of Backgammon Enterprises founders Andy Bell and Eric Guedj will be at the Danish Backgammon Federation's Nordic Open 2009 with WSOB commentator GUS HANSEN. WSOB will announce its much anticipated plans for its third season of high stakes televised tournaments a new expanded WSOB Championship format.

WSOB will also simultaneously announce the imminent broadcast dates for the WSOB Riviera Cup and WSOB Championship shows to air on Eurosport 2 in the coming weeks.

Following several months of negotiations with parent company and majority shareholder Partouche Interactive, Bell and Guedj have now reached agreement to acquire the WSOB business.
